JEWELLERY CARE

HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR NEW JEWELLERY

WHAT IS STERLING SILVER?
All our jewellery is made from solid 925 Sterling Silver & genuine gemstones. Pure silver is just too soft for the manufacture of jewellery. 925 Silver contains 92.5% pure silver and the rest will be an alloy such as copper to give the jewellery strength.
Sterling Silver is a perfect material for people with sensitive skin or allergies.

HOW DO I KEEP MY PIECES LOOKING THEIR BEST?

Our jewellery is designed for everyday wear. We always advise removing your jewellery before showering or swimming, contact with water (especially chlorine) may cause the jewellery to tarnish. We also recommend removing jewellery before excercising, or lifting heavy objects.

Always remember to remove jewellery when applying perfumes and lotions, these will cause jewellery to tarnish and may dull the appearance of natural gemstones.

    DOES STERLING SILVER TARNISH?

Sterling Silver may dull over time, this can happen for many reasons. Exposure to air and the elements, pH of the skin and contact with water may cause tarnishing. Tarnishing is completely harmless and the shine of your jewellery can easily and quickly be restored with a buff from a silver cloth. We stock small silver cloths which can be purchased HERE

WILL SILVER RINGS MARK MY FINGER?

All our pieces are made from solid 925 Sterling Silver. In some rare instances, silver may leave a black or green mark on your skin. This is in no way an indication that the jewellery is low quality or not sterling silver.

This reaction is completely harmless and the jewellery can be kept in shiny condition by buffing regularly with a silver cloth. Skin pH, humidity and use of medication may be factors in causing this reaction.

HOW DO I STORE MY NEW JEWELLERY?

We recommend storing your jewellery away from bright sunlight, heat and humidity. Storing them in a soft pouch or fabric lined box, and storing pieces separately will reduce the risk of scratches and chains becoming tangled. Storing jewellery in an airtight container will also prevent your jewellery from tarnishing.

We always recommend sterilising all pierced jewellery before wear

We hope you love your new jewellery and if you have any questions please contact us at asaboveuk@gmail.com
